Motorola’s Insane Adaptive Display Foldable Wraps Around Your Wrist

Motorola has unveiled an innovative new foldable smartphone concept at Lenovo Tech World called the “Adaptive Display.” This device features a flexible 6.9-inch display that can transform into different modes and shapes.

In its default mode, it functions like a normal Android smartphone for running apps and other tasks. However, the display can bend to sit upright on a surface, reducing the screen size to 4.6-inches for easy hands-free viewing. Remarkably, it can even wrap around your wrist as a wearable smartwatch with truncated Android interface.

Motorola demonstrated the wrist wearable mode on stage, showing the potential for such an adaptable and customizable foldable device. This builds on Lenovo’s earlier experiments with similar bendable display prototypes years ago, before foldable phones went mainstream.

Beyond the adaptive physical display, Motorola also highlighted some new AI software features. These include MotoAI assistant, AI-powered document scanning, text summarization, and privacy content obfuscation to automatically blur personal info in screenshots. Additionally, the Adaptive concept will use AI to generate stylish wallpapers tailored to the user’s outfit.

While Motorola provided no details on an actual launch, the Adaptive Display concept represents an innovative vision for the future of foldables. By making the smartphone screen adaptable to different modes and uses, it illustrates the vast possibilities in this rapidly evolving device category. For now, it remains a concept, much like the earlier rollable “Rizr” prototype. But it provides a glimpse of the creative potential in store for foldable phones.
